Conditions Treated by Acupuncture

At Acupuncture in the Park, we specialize in treating a number of conditions relating to women’s health, as well as conditions appropriate to both women and men.  Using acupuncture, herbs, bodywork, food therapy and lifestyle counseling, we treat the following:

Stress, Anxiety, Depression, and Related Health Conditions

Acupuncture is an effective treatment for mood and emotional conditions.  One of the most common mood disorders we treat is depression.  On its own, acupuncture can treat mild, transient depression.  It is also a good complementary treatment for people suffering from major depressive disorders.

People suffering from anxiety are familiar with the uncomfortable feeling associated with fear or thoughts of impending doom. For some, anxiety may be extreme and take the form of panic attacks, with symptoms such as a racing heart, sweating, shortness of breath or chest tightness.  At Acupuncture in the Park, we have successfully helped many people find relief from anxiety and panic attacks.

Throughout the years, we have also effectively helped many people who suffer from stress, and the physical symptoms that accompany stress, such as digestive problems and insomnia.

Pain Conditions

Our goal  at Acupuncture in the Park is to relieve your pain quickly.  We have found that acute pain conditions–those that are more recent, or a current flare-up–tend to respond quickly to acupuncture, if treated soon enough and frequently at the onset.

Chronic pain is a long-term condition, often from past traumas, accidents, or illnesses.  Chronic pain conditions are successfully treated with acupuncture, but generally require a longer plan for treatment.

We treat each client as unique, from their history of pain to current symptoms.  We use a variety of tools along with acupuncture, such as electric stimulation and bodywork to help you become pain-free as quickly as possible.  We have successfully helped many people become pain free from the following conditions:  Back, neck and shoulder pain; sciatica, hip, and leg pain; “tennis” elbow; neuropathy; myositis; arthritis and joint pain; headaches, tooth clenching, TMJ and facial pain.

Hormone-Related Problems

Many women believe that menstrual problems, such as PMS and menstrual cramps are just a normal part of life.  At Acupuncture in the Park, many women have found otherwise.  Acupuncture can be an effective alternative to medication for relief of menstrual-related discomfort. For women suffering from uncomfortable symptoms associated with menopause, acupuncture may be the answer they are seeking.  Typically, menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, memory loss, and palpitations are brought under control through a combination of acupuncture and herbal therapy.

We have helped women find relief from a variety of hormone-related conditions using  acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, food therapy, and lifestyle counseling.  We can help you, too.

Supportive Therapy

Acupuncture can be an excellent way to support weight loss and smoking cessation.  While there is no simple solution for weight loss, we can help you  implement your own weight loss plan.  We do this by using acupuncture to curb food cravings and to decrease stress, which can be a common cause of overeating.

We have also helped people to quit smoking by decreasing the amount and intensity of cravings for nicotine.  In addition, we help support lung function and decrease irritability and stress to ensure our clients successfully quit smoking once and for all.

We work with people who want to slow or reverse the signs of aging with cosmetic acupuncture for the purpose of facial rejuvenation.  We also offer Acupuncture Botox DetoxTM   to help people who want to stop using Botox, maintain their appearance, and regain circulation in their eye and forehead areas.
